The National Theatre has a vast array of workshop facilities within its central London setting, for all aspects of theatre production. The existing workshops for fabric dying, wig making, and costume props have been evolving organically, but changing workloads together with developing technology and working practices have prompted a more holistic review of the existing facilities.

The project commenced with a detailed feasibility study, to assess new layout options and technological requirements for the specific crafts and processes of each department.

The next phase is now to develop the layout and infrastructure in more detail, and coordinating the varying needs to staff within the concrete structure of the listed building.
